If you live or choose to temporarily live in the 14th in the month of June, you will notice that is a month packed with events. One of them is the Fête de la Musique, which is not only a festival but a popular, free event, open to all amateur or professional musicians wishing to express their musical talent and style to people.
In Paris, Fête de la Musique is also an opportunity to go out and socialize, have a good time, drink and eat, with friends, family or neighbours. Everyone is in much better mood than usual. All different types of music mix upend it presents a great opportunity to talk freely with music and with people who like music regardless of their preferred musical style or tribe.
This year the event took place on a saturday, which is good as it means that you can start join the party earlier in the day. Emma and I went out and caught up with some friends who live in the area: Lorna and Graheme. Incidentally a couple of guests who are staying the one of the apartments suggested we met for a glass of wine and we ended up hanging out with them too at ‘L’Imprévu’ bar in the local area, over a drink.
We tend to stick to our local ‘quartier’ for Fête de la Musique as we like and really enjoy the local atmosphere, bumping into familiar faces and because of the convenience to get around without need for public transport.
So our usual itinerary in the local area is as follows:
L’Imprévu
Place de la Garenne
Place de Moro-Giafferi
Place Jacques Demy (near ‘Mairie du 14ème)
rue Daguerre (up and down)
Although on this Fete de la Musique, we skipped the last spot as our little daughter Nerea was getting tired
There was the usual good vibe everywhere, so we were a little sad to come back home by 21.30, but yet one more year we enjoyed Fête de la Musique in the 14ème!
